ABOUT US :: Board and Staff :: History :: A Word from Our    Executive Director   ABOUT US Welcome to Urban Youth Action, Inc! This web site is dedicated to our founder, the late Mr. Bernard H. Jones, Sr. Early in his life Mr. Jones gained an appreciation of, concern and compassion for human condition, especially as lived by poor, urban youth. Some of his first activities included the formation of Club Scout troops, basketball leagues, the Explorers Post 48, and 20th Century Youth in Action. With the support of the Urban Redevelopment Authority, Urban Youth Action (UYA) was founded in 1966 and continues to serve young people today in preparing them for the opportunities available in education, employment, entrepreneurship and public service. In the years following the formation of Urban Youth Action, Mr. Jones developed Misters, Inc., Misters Investment Association, P.A.I.D., U.M.P. Investment Club, Retism, FAMS (Financial and Moral Supporters) and the POISE Foundation. Thank you Mr. Jones for being the visionary and dedicating your life to serving the underprivileged in Allegheny County/City of Pittsburgh.
